One Grows research found that height measurement is a critical variable for many health/ fitness assessments and accurate milestone records need to be reliable. Therefor transcribing the data accurately is essential but reading and manual recording of this data is a great source of error. The seamless method to add measurements to your Records on the App increases the accuracy and reliability of the data and addresses this problem.
It uses ultrasonic waves to measure the length of a baby in a lying position and height of a person when standing.
Ultrasonic sensors (sometimes called ultrasonic transducers), measures the distance to a target object by sending a sound pulse, above the range of human hearing (ultrasonic), then measures the time it takes for the sound echo to return. The transducer of the sensor acts as a microphone to receive and send the ultrasonic sound.
The sensor determines the distance as a measured number. Ultrasonic sensing is one of the best ways to sense proximity and detects levels with high reliability. However, soft materials which do not reflect the sonar (ultrasonic) waves may cause issues (eg. carpet surface will influence accuracy). Human errors may occur due to incorrect positioning or interference of the path of the ultrasonic wave – try adjusting the position of the person/child or the position of the measurer.
Yes. The sensors sends an ultrasonic pulse which travels through the air and if there is an obstacle or object in the waves path, it will affect the return wave to the sensor. Ensure firm surfaces ie. baby’s head positioned against a smooth plaster, tiled, laminate wall. Standing height – measure on an even tiled, timber or laminate surface.
If the measurer is on an angle the distance for the ultrasonic wave will be affected and the accuracy of the measurement will be in doubt. The user would need to reposition and ensure the measurer is straight.
Double AA batteries. Secured with a safety screw and a small screwdriver is supplied in the box.
There is no age limit. The suggested maximum height is 2 metres.
The measurement is recorded in centimeters.
